Well, I hope you have been enjoying these blogs. They are meant to inform and help us better confront what’s really going on, and more importantly what you can do to help yourself and others.  Self-reliance, that’s the best remedy. Self-reliance is the key to building your health and wellness team because it is not isolating yourself and the heck with others, but quite the opposite, by being self-reliant you are in the best position to help others succeed and do well in life!

So let’s talk about cytokine storms, what they are, how you can determine how inflamed you might be, and most importantly… self-reliance, what you can do to reduce inflammatory levels and live a healthier and happier life!

A cytokine storm is when the person’s immune system goes out of control very rapidly, much like a storm, and starts to attack healthy tissues and organs.  Cytokines are chemicals released from the cells that signal the immune system to attack. If cytokine levels are already elevated from stress, trauma, chronic lack of sleep, or pro-inflammatory diets, when the body is under attack from a virus or other bug, the immune response can go out of control and attack healthy tissues and organs.

In the case of COVID 19, when the body is exposed to the virus an immune response, in part from cytokines, is signaled and the person’s immune system should fight the infectious invader, and then shut off. Get the idea, it starts, it does its thing, and then shuts off.

If the cytokine levels are already elevated, and the body is exposed to the virus, the immune system can go crazy and attack the lungs, cause the blood vessels to leak fluid and blood into the lungs, and cause clots that limit blood flow to the other organs of the body. The blood pressure plummets and the person can go into a coma and die.

Back in 2019 and the early stages of COVID 19 researchers in China discovered high levels of cytokines suggesting cytokine storms in those who died from the COVID virus. This is something that should have been reported at the time.  Oh, but they didn’t know back then, Dr. Dave.

It was also discovered that those who died from H1N1 (Swine flu) several years earlier died from the effects of a cytokine storm.

So it really appears that those who are chronically inflamed, and whose cytokine levels are significantly elevated have the highest potential for a poor outcome should they become infected with the COVID virus.

Healthy people generally tend to be healthy, while unhealthy people tend to be unhealthy.  Something the experts keep forgetting to tell everyone as they continue to monger fear and threaten to shut down the world.

But now you know.
