Hello!
Alright, well welcome back to the fifth and final blog in this series.
I hope you are realizing you don’t have to be afraid, and that there are many things you can do to reduce many of the adverse health outcomes that we face, and most certainly COVID 19.
If we really understood how powerful we really are and how capable, and how incredible… we would find ourselves living in a much better world than we find ourselves in today.
It is our planet, and this could be a whole lot of fun instead of… well, the nonsense we find surrounding us.
Okay.
I write these blogs in advance, so I hope some of you have had your high sensitivity C-Reactive Protein levels checked, and have taken advantage of our blood scan and body composition machines, or at least bought Dr. Seaman’s book and read some of it!
Some of the cytokine and inflammatory elevating factors mentioned earlier in the first couple of blogs of this series were inflammatory diets, obesity, sleep loss, smoking, sun avoidance, mental and emotional stress, and sedentary life styles. These are all stressors that can lead to elevated cytokines and inflammatory markers.
Paragon Chiropractic can help you with all of these and more!
For this blog, the biggie will be inflammatory diets.
There are really only four basic food categories that a person needs to eliminate from their diet to make meaningful changes:
Eliminate all grains and grain flours, eliminate sugar, eliminate polyunsaturated vegetable oils like palm oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, and safflower oil, and finally eliminate trans-fats which are hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated vegetable oils.
Meat, fish, chicken, and tons and tons of vegetables are perfect along with fats and oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, and butter. All spices are great.
These changes will lower body weight, and normalize hCRP, glucose, and blood fat levels.
In addition to the above, supplementing with fish oil, magnesium, vitamin D3, vitamin C and zinc will also do wonders.
Again, we at Paragon Chiropractic are well skilled and more than happy to help you create the best you that you can create!
I really wish I could write 30 to 40 pages on the de-flame diet, but it really is too simple, and besides, you should really purchase Dr. Seaman’s book. I think it is only $20, and it will tell you everything you need to know.
That being said, there are chapters in Dr. Seaman’s “The DeFlame Diet” book that are referenced and discuss at length Vit D, Vit C, Magnesium, Zinc, and Fish oils, along with the deflame diet.
In the meantime here are a few good websites for each:
Vit D >> www.vitamindsociety.org www.originsofhealth.com
Zinc >> www.healthline.com
Fish Oil >> www.healthline.com>nutrition>13-benefits-of-fish-oil
Vit C >> www.foodinsight.org>vitaminc-and-iron-perfect-match
Magnesium >> blog.disabilitycanhappen.org
As I said, each topic is handled very well in “The DeFlame Diet book- heck, I’ll loan you my copy if you would like! You really just need to read it.
We are always available to answer any questions and make recommendations. You only need to let us know!
Alright.
Well, I hope that was helpful, and you see that it really is very easy to understand and help yourself.
As I have said before, you are part of a team whether you think so or not, and we are all counting on you. If not for yourself, consider these last 5 blogs and make the changes so you can be there for those who rely on you each day!
Take Care,
Dr. Dave
Dr. Dave … I quit smoking 30 years ago but am finding out it was easier to quit than sugar. I understand it’s a mind set. I know that arthritis in my hands and now foot is totally abuse of sugar and grains… what can your team do to help When I make the commitment to forgo these. I did make it 3 days once. Lol!!!
Hey Tina,
That’s really saying something. We have seen a number of recovering heroin addicts who said it was easier to quit heroin than to quit smoking!
The sugar and the grains are really just one day at a time. Each day you avoid these your body’s cravings for them becomes less and less. In fact, grain flours will actually kind of burn in your mouth after you haven’t eaten them for a while.
It is not easy. These foods are highly addictive. I have always found that I wanted something “more” than what I was going to get from the cookies whether it was another inch off the waist line or another few pounds or something. I wanted to see how low I could get my body fat percentage or something.
I wish I could be more helpful, but it really is just discipline to begin with and then after a week or so you really don’t miss the grains and sugars.
I hope that helps.
Dr. Dave
When trying to quit sugars is Stevia an acceptable sweeting substitute?
Hey Eric,
What a person is trying to do is control the insulin response in their body. This is what causes the problems and inflammation, and increased body fat, and, and, and.
So it really depends on whether or not the stevia creates the same insulin response as does sugar.
I read that with certain people who do eat a lot of sugar, that as soon as the mouth senses sweetness, the pancreas starts dumping insulin in preparation of a great sugar feed. So if a person eats a dozen doughnuts each day and stops, that’s a good thing, but if he eats a couple of pieces of candy each day, the sweetness will cause the pancreas to dump insulin expecting a dozen doughnuts. This is still a problem in terms of inflammation and overall health. Yes, the person is better off less the doughnuts, but the mechanism that causes the storage of fat and inflammatory processes is still in play.
I would say if you can avoid it, not knowing your insulin response, that would be best. But gradient scales work best. So if stevia helps reduce to no sugars/sweeteners then that would be the way to go.
In the end, it really depends upon your body’s response to the foods you eat. You know the results you are looking for, and you want to do and eat those things that get you those results.
If you are using stevia and not getting your results, this would be a good thing to eliminate and then see if you start winning again.
Keep me posted!
