Quite honestly, I really don’t like talking about all this health stuff.

My attitude about all of it aligns with an old Glenn Frey song, Party Town!

When our kids were little they used to love to sing this song-

I got sick of my job, sick of my wife, sick of my future, and sick of my life, I packed up my car, and I got some gas and I told ev’rybody they could kiss my ass-

I’m going to Party Town, Yeah, Yeah,

I wanna party down Yeah, Yeah,

I wanna have some fun,

I wanna fool around,

I’m goin’ to Party Town.

But then I recall that Glenn Frey had rheumatoid arthritis, which is an auto-immune disease brought on by uncontrolled inflammatory processes, and that because of the medications he took to reduce his body”s immune response to the rheumatoid he developed ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia from which he died.

I have to tell you, and if you have read David Seaman’s The Deflame Diet, a person can figure out what exactly happened to Glenn- uncontrolled inflammation, and desperate medical solutions that did not align with usual and customary.

So, here we go…,

When looking at a body and how it works, one might be better to study Organizational Management Technology, as the body is really nothing more than a group of organs and systems that might be likened to an organization’s departments and are connected by communication lines with a final, valuable product of normal body function in the direction of survival.

Kind of an unusual take, I know…, but not really if a person takes a good look at it. More importantly, it is an easier way to consider things if one wants to keep his body alive and functioning and not get caught up in all the medical terms and other complexities.

I have written a book entitled Body Basics, A Companions’ Guide, which should be available here shortly, and in it, I discuss more thoroughly the concept of the body as an organization.

When an organization or business is not running smoothly and is having problems, the first thing to do if one is unsure is to do the usual and customary, the normal routines and activities, right?

Do the usual activities.

Let’s say a person hurt his back. This would not be the time to start a new exercise routine, stretch class, or some other activity to make the pain go away.

One would resume the customary and usual which would be short walking.

Get the idea?

“Oh, I went to see this exercise expert, and I think it’s helping, but I feel worse and I’m not really able to do my typical activities of daily living!”

As the person starts to worsen, he will get desperate and start doing all kinds of things that friends and relatives and the internet and social media tell him to do.

And guess what? He continues to worsen!

A person will continue to get worse to the degree he is not doing the usual and customary.

The usual and customary is what had him healthy and well. Why would he try anything else., except getting more sleep, eating healthier foods with the appropriate amount of protein, getting sunlight, light activity and exercise, and maybe, just maybe thinking about loading up the car and taking his friends to Party Town?

Here are 3 facts listed by L. Ron Hubbard that are for faltering organizations, but can, in my opinion, be applied when one’s health and wellness have been compromised:

  1. “The usual solution already exists. One has to find out or work out what it is.
  2. Unusual actions will backlog one (meaning pile on more and more crap), and if continued, will drown one.
  3. One can dig himself out if he spends some time each day getting the usual lined up and in.”

Oddly enough, if one tries to alter the body’s solution, it will usually cause a persistence of the problem.

This is why people who try to lose weight, usually are unsuccessful- given the person’s inflammatory lifestyle, weight gain is the correct solution.

To lose weight, correct the lifestyle that is causing it, not diet pills, surgery, or liposuction.

I mean, look at 1-3 above. It makes sense, right?

Another thing that can cause the persistence of a problem is mis-ownership, or blaming the problem on something that is not to blame.

Again, with being overweight, blaming the problem on a mother who didn’t feed you healthy food, or your father’s sluggish thyroid, if these are not the reasons why, good luck losing that weight- the problem will persist.

So the easiest thing to do? The usual and customary.

As easy of a concept as it might seem, a person might need some help getting the usual and customary back into their lifestyle.

For this reason, we are in the process of creating an ancillary practice at Paragon Chiropractic that will focus on the restoration of usual and customary lifestyle practices that promote improving health and wellness- not treating disease.

This practice will focus primarily on coaching and guiding an individual to make those lifestyle changes necessary to improve the quality of their health and wellness.

If there is one message to take home from all of these blogs/vlogs it is that the individual himself is causing all of his own problems and that by not addressing the cause, the problems will persist and worsen over time.

If you would, I would love to hear from you and let me know what you think.

In the meantime, get David Seaman’s book, The Deflamed Diet, and when you are ready…, we will be here for you!

Take Care,

Dr. Dave
