Thanks again for following along, and taking the time to listen to what I have to say!

Recently a house in the office neighborhood was razed. It had probably been there for at least 60 to 70 years and now it is gone.

I couldn’t help but think about how long it took to build that house originally, perhaps several months, and all the different families that lived there over the years putting love and energy into the property.

The point is it took time, and with the people who lived there, the building lasted at least 60 years or longer.

In less than half a day it was all gone. Just a few piles of things, but leveled and gone.

It’s funny how much time and energy it takes to construct and build compared to the few hours it takes to destroy.

This seems to be the way of life really.

Think of your health.

It takes time and a lot of work to continue to build and create a healthy body and world around you, certainly way more than it takes to destroy it all.

Consider how long and all the work it takes to raise a kid and poof a drunk driver, drugs, a war, and the kid is gone. No more. Snap of the fingers really.

This is not a discussion about what is good or bad.

Where once was an old broken down house, new homes can be built for young families, and the process starts over; but what I am saying is that instant solutions, especially in healthcare generally prove to be destructive with very little upside, and take very little time to destroy.

Expediency can be a cruel mistress, magic drugs that can have a person 100 lbs lighter in a few weeks, will generally prove to be tomorrow’s problem.

We’ve all cut corners in our lives and it has always wound up costing more money and time than had we just done it correctly the first time.

What if the builders of the razed house built the place as fast as it was razed in half a day? You would wonder if it was structurally sound, would you have bought the place and allowed your loved ones to live there?

Something to think about.

Take Care,

Dr. Dave
