1/1

Hello!

Here’s to an amazing and prosperous 2023!

Well, I suppose it’s that time of year when we are supposed to make a bunch of promises to ourselves and others that deep, down inside we know we probably won’t be able to keep.

In a few weeks we hang our heads as failures and think bad thoughts about ourselves, or those we thought we were going to help, but having failed…,

“Well, I’m just a loser anyhow!”

Right?!?

Perhaps the best advice is to resolve to do those things you are already doing, only now make them a little more challenging, and try to do them a little better each day!

It’s all about overcoming something that is challenging to you, not whether you end world hunger or find a universal cure for cancer before the end of February.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, ACKNOWLEDGE THOSE WINS, NO MATTER HOW SMALL…, IT’S ALL ABOUT PROGRESS, RIGHT?

Don’t get all spun up in the losses or shortcomings; float in a sea of merit…, acknowledge yourself, and take your wins!

In fact, as silly as it sounds, there is one thing a person simply cannot do, and that is solve another person’s problems…, they’ll work twice as hard to come up with new ones you won’t be able to solve!

So work to overcome those things that are challenging to you, like walking more each day, trying to get to sleep a little earlier, try eating only 10 hours a day, drinking an extra glass of water, you know…, simple things that are surprisingly challenging, but will help you make amazing changes in how you feel and handle life.

I once read a quote that said,

“People tend to overestimate what they can accomplish in a day, and underestimate what they might achieve in a lifetime.”

I once read that the only person an individual is truly in competition with is himself. How’s that for a kicker?

Whatever you are trying to overcome, you created, you put in place…, it’s all you, baby!  Pretty wild.

The term I use is Postulate. It is a self-created truth posted or put in place by the individual himself.

Many postulates hold a lot of stuff in place that we might not want, but then you are the one putting it there. I have written many blogs about the incredible you!

To change one’s mind and work against his own postulates doesn’t work-  he would have to make himself wrong in order to be, well…, right! But there is a way to do this, and I would be happy to talk to you about how- just let me know.

Okay.

Here’s another pointer that might help along with knowing a person is really only in competition with himself, and that is when trying to decide how 2023 is going to be THE year, look only to oneself, right?

It is too easy to see all the beautiful people who have their stuff packed neatly in one sock, and then feel bad about yourself because you aren’t doing it like them.

“Oh, I need to “be like Mike”, or Tom Brady, or Madonna, or whoever is the “it” person we all need to be more like.

You can only be you, and all the other nonsense will only lead to failure and heartache, and that’s a terrible way to start a New Year!

Here’s to Progress!
